Process

For this project, my team of six was assigned to create a fashion collection based on high-performance wear throughout the entirety of the semester. Throughout this whole process, we teamed up with Cotton Works to incorporate cotton technology into our line. Please view my project below.

It was important to us to have a source of inspiration for our collection, a jumping-off point for us to base our designs, our themes, and our reasons for creating the collection as a whole. Since our group is comprised of all women, it was most meaningful to us to think about women's occupations and the things they need whilst working.

My team and I eventually landed on taking inspiration from flight attendants, as these women are tasked with maintaining a very professional and sleek exterior while having to perform and even be a first responder in case of an emergency on a flight. We wanted to push ourselves outside the realm of athletic wear and introduce high performance into the corporate world.

We focused on two major finishes for our collections, both Tough Cotton and Natural Stretch technology. Tough cotton technology is designed to provide increased benefits of durability, abrasion and wrinkle resistance, which will provide our customer maximum comfort as she travels. As for natural stretch technology that is not only designed to offer comfort, but also provide that added stretch and breathability, allowing more movement and less limitations for her busy lifestyle. 

This is one example of how we incorporated our trims and details into a few of our garments. This image illustrates our use of flats through Adobe Illustrator and how we plan to make our garments adjustable and breathable for our target woman.
